Fossil Gen 5: Features, Colors, Price and Reviews
Fossil has been a bit away from the reflectors lately, but it is back to steal attention again, although Galaxy Watch Active 2 has taken it over since it was launched on the 5th of this month, a date that, as of today, is only three days away. The manufacturer now brings new smartwatches and, yes, continues to bet on Wear OS, Google’s operating system for smart watches that, while offering much, is far behind in multiple sections, so much so that companies like Samsung, Huawei and many others have decided to abandon it and opt for their own OS in their devices. However, the new members of the company’s catalogue promise a lot.
The Gen 5 are the new smartwatches that Fossil has recently launched. These are the most advanced of the brand to date, so they offer more things than previous models.
To begin with, we’ll talk about the display of these smart watches, and what better way than to point out the size of it? This one is 1.28 inches and, just like the Apple Watch and the new Galaxy Watch Active 2, it is OLED technology.
The pair that makes up this team are the Carlyle and Julianna models. These have a size of 44 mm and interchangeable straps of 22 mm. In addition, they make use of a Wear 3100 Snapdragon processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage space and battery saving functions that make their autonomy expand considerably until reaching 36 hours in its normal state and up to a week in ‘clock mode’. On the other hand, they integrate the Cardiogram application in a pre-installed way and exclusive access to Cardiogram Care -for 15 dollars per month-.
They also have a speaker and microphone, as well as Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, NFC for contactless payments via Google Pay, GPS and Wi-Fi. In addition, they feature a heart rate monitor and multiple functions to measure numerous activities, sports and exercises. Sensors such as the accelerometer or gyroscope are also available, and the latest version of Wear OS is even less noticeable by its absence.
